March 2021 Releases

Spring is so close, sometimes I can smell it on the wind. Not today, though. It smells like cold and sadness today. Anyways, new book releases!

March 2021
Annnd it’s March again. One one hand: how wretched. On the other: there are days I can feel myself emerging from the Seasonal Affective Disorder funk and actually wanting to do things again. I was excited to go out and do laundry! I did a bunch of stuff around the house! I put the garbage out front because I forgot it was a recycling-only week!

This Month’s Releases
Another month brimming with new releases! I can’t believe a year ago I was only listing like 10 – 20 releases per month. What have I done to myself? Anyways, enjoy the fruits of my folly. (Worst line ever?)

Young Adult/New Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction Releases:

Some disconnected thoughts:
 — Magic Mutant Nightmare Girls better respect my girl, Sailor Moon.
 — I am excited for Sweet & Bitter Magic and my copy actually came in early! But will I actually read and write a review in time for the release date? Who knows! (I know: not likely )
 — Dragonbird in the Fern seems to have conflicting release dates? But Amazon does list a release for a physical copy on the date below, so… (Also, idk what a dragonbird is, but I want one.) *Edit* Dragonbird in the Fern actually comes out in August 2021. Oops.
 — There are two authors named Emily Martin releasing books this month. Honestly? Sounds cursed to me.
 — The Seventh Raven is probably gonna win “Best Cover of the Month.” All it takes is a bird, folks.
— Emily R. King is a genius for this title, because it’s 100% gonna come up when people search SJM books.
— Cassandra Clare’s books are in a weird place for me: they’re ubiquitous, but I’ve never read one. So I always forget when one’s coming out.

Adult/Gen Fantasy and Science Fiction Releases:
march 2021 adult sff small
Some adult/gen fantasy disconnected thoughts!
 — Lost Apothecary is another A+ cover. I’ll transcend to a new state of existence if someone ever puts a bird on a purple cover for a sapphic book.
 — The Unbroken is one of my most anticipated books this months, and for 2021 in general! Bonus fact: the cover artist does The Locked Tomb covers, too!
Dead Space sounds pretty cool. I love Sci-fi horror. Possible October review?
 — I really need to go back and reread the Kazuo Ishiguro book I’ve read because I was so, so stupid back then and my 1-Star review looks so gauche.
 — In The Quick: another good cover. Usually I’m not a fan of minimalism, but this one’s pretty good.
 — I own and started A Memory Called Empire sometime last year or maybe in 2019? But I got sidetracked. Oops.
 — If you didn’t know: you need to go directly to Subterranean Press‘s website to buy their books, and it takes a little while for ebook copies to come out after the initial release date.

  1. Thank you so much for including A Dragonbird in the Fern! ❤ However, you're absolutely right that there must be conflicting information out there about the release. The correct release date is August 3, 2021. I think somewhere along the line there was a 3-8 / 8-3 mixup.
